\ This page is dedicated to
Jackson in Jersey. Jackson's baby pic is pictured at
the top left corner of this page. All of our puppies are very
special to us but there was something about Jackson, "He had
me from hello!"
I hope
that all of our bloodhound families love their bloodhound
"kids" as much as Jackson's Family.
Jackson
travels on a regular basis. The reason I decided to start a
Jackson page is that Ron, Jackson's dad, has sent me some
terrific stories that make you feel as if you are there with
them. Also, wonderful pictures of Jackson and the places
that he has been!
So, please take time to stop and view these pics of Jackson
and read the stories of
a curious pup and his
family.
From
Ron:
Below is Ellis Island

Hi
Kayla,
We had a warm (30 degrees) weekend so we took
advantage of the
weather, grabbed
our big dog, and took a daytrip.
Lately Jackson seems
to be more interested in looking at buildings and people
rather than being in the woods. We had to go to Newark anyway
so we brought the big dog with us. Newark, New Jersey isn't
the safest place in the United States but you feel more
secure when walking around with a dog who is 3 feet tall
and weighs 151 pounds. Urbanites usually don't know what to
make of him. Is he a guard dog? Is he searching for something?
Most people assume Jackson is a police dog. They steer
clear when they see us coming down the street. Jackson
loved walking the streets and driving through the
neighborhoods.
When we finished our business in Newark
we went over to Liberty State Park in Jersey City,
NJ. Liberty State Park is on the waterfront close to
the Statue of Liberty. From Liberty State park you can take
a short boat ride over to both Liberty Island and Ellis
Island. Over the last few years Liberty State Park has been
expanded and they've put in the Liberty Walk. The Liberty
Walk is a 2 mile walkway along the Hudson River waterfront
where you can get spectacular views of the Statue of
Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New York Skyline. If you are
lucky enough to be there late on Saturday afternoon you can
watch the New York based cruise ships leave the harbor
for their excursions to tropical destinations. At the end
of the walkway, is the Central Railroad of New Jersey
Terminal. This building was the where immigrants from Ellis
Island boarded trains to go to their new homes all over the
United States. It is a spectacular building. When you stand
in front of it you can feel the history. It is now being
restored to it's former glory as part of the Ellis Island
renovation.
I've
included some pictures so that you can get a feel for the
Liberty Walk. Of course Jackson was the official greeter
along the walkway. Everybody who passed by had to stop and
say hello to the big tourist puppy who was taking in the
sights, sounds and smells of the area. Stay
warm!!! Ron, Shari, and
Jackson
